This challenge is around since 2021, which was then only announced via reddit.
During last year it was decided that the challenge wants to expand to other platforms to reach more participants

This is a year-long challenge where you choose a character and let him die each month of the year. Due to the nature of this challenge the mod-team agreed that is a 16+ challenge.

As of  December 2023 this challenged turned into a bingo.

[~ Rules ~]

1.) It must be the same character each month. It can be an original character too, as we allow original works as well. 

2.) There are no limits of how bloody / gory your story can be. Just tag your works properly on the platform you're using.

3.) Be kind to each other.

4.) You can combine these works with other challenges, not just big names but also the ones take are hosted on dreamwidth.

5.) You can only post one story a month (If you are behind for whatever reason, this rule does not apply).

6.) You do not need to use the prompts given. They are there to give you ideas. We love to read what you come up with during the year.

7.) The prompt can not be added to an existing story.
 

And the most important rule of all: Have fun writing.

Can the character we choose be an original one, too?
(might only participate in private, but it does sound interesting and might finally get me somewhere in my original projects)

Of course we all allow original work.

Just checking because I'm tired: are there any POV restrictions? Does the work have to be POV of the character who dies or can I use outside POV?

ETA: and does the character need to STAY dead at the end? I'm thinking about curses or illusions or such.

You can write any POV you want.

The character has to stay dead.

If I'm writing for a canon where characters are canonically part of a cycle of death and rebirth, is that acceptable as long as the rebirth part isn't included in the fic?

Yes it is.
I wrote such a character last year as well.
